Ralph had his first visit to the dentist this morning. He accompanied Mike to his appointment and watched with intent as Mike got his teeth cleaned. The hygienist was great explaining different tools and letting Ralph touch them. She even let Ralph hang on to the little vacuum and put it in Mike's mouth.

After Mike was done, it was Ralph's turn. Cassie, another hygienist, gave Ralph the option of going by himself or having me come with him. He opted for mommy to join him. We were led through a maze of hallways to what seemed like the furthest room. I kept thinking, "Are we back here to mask the sound if Ralph starts crying?" He did super!

Rather than take risk a bad experiences of taking films of each side of his mouth (ie. gagging) she took films of the front teeth. It was fun to see the adult teeth sitting underneath the baby teeth. Dr. Lacey came in and showed Ralph some of the tools he'd be using, and let Ralph touch them before putting them in his mouth. Ralph did great while Dr. Lacey did some cleaning. Ralph did get a little distracted when Dr. Lacey was putting fluoride on his teeth in that he kept trying to sample it.
All in all, it was great visit! Hopefully next year will go just as well!
