End of an (Orchestra) Era
Its the end of an (Orchestra) Era. From the many hours of practice in 4th and 5th grade as he learned the violin to the dedicated class of orchestra in high school Ralph has spent nine years playing the violin.
This year there were 4 concerts - a fall concert at East, the holiday concert at Gateway Mall, the Cadenza concert with a Big Apple theme, and a spring concert with a guest clinician that is intended to take place prior to the District Music Contest but due to scheduling conflicts it took place after the Contest.
During the Cadenza concert in February the seniors are recognized and presented with awards. Ralph was one of the students that received the Stradivarious Award for Outstanding Leadership & Service (The Stradivarious violin is an instrument of immeasurable value. In the same way, your leadership and contributions to your orchestra peers are beyond measure, for you have brought success to others.) He also received a Senior Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of devoted participation in and excellent contributions to the Lincoln East Orchestra.

Ralph: Celebrating 18 years!
Ralph turned 18 two days ago! He is now an adult! . . . or is he?! By some standards, yes. By other standards, no.
He can vote and register for the selective service along with some other adult "things".
He has started cooking more and I know he will never go hungry. For lent he cut out sweets and is currently logging his food intake - his breakfast during the week has been consisting of 3 no sugar added greek yogurts and suppers have been a high protein (chicken, steak, salmon) and a carb (rice, sweet potato, regular potato). His birthday treat was strawberry shortcake.
His focus has been finishing up his high school career which will be complete in 2 months. Spring break wrapped up last week; he is currently in the 4th quarter.
