Last Day of School / 2021-2022

I'm not really sure the purpose of going to school today except to see friends for one last time before summer starts.  Chromebooks were turned in on Monday.  The last few days were spent playing games - sometimes subject related (jeopardy-like); sometimes not.

The boys were a little giddy this morning.

The 1st few photos are comparisons of the first day of 6th grade for both Henry and Ralph next to a photo from today to see how much they have grown - Henry in 9 months; Ralph in 2 years, 9 months.  It is a coincidence they are both wearing green shirts in each photo; it was not planned.

Photos from this morning -

With 45 minutes left in 8th grade I received a call from Ralph - his glasses broke.  He was hoping I could pick him up, get them fixed, and get back to school before the bell.  That wasn't going to work out timing wise - he'd have to wait until the bell rang.

With less than 20 minutes left Ralph called again to see if I was at the pick up spot; someone had pulled the fire alarm.  I'm not sure if he was hoping to leave at that point but I had just left work and he would have to wait until the bell rung.

We continued our "its the last day of school" after school treat.  This year's treat was Scoops!  They chose to eat it on the go.

A bit later Ralph met us with some friends and for another celebratory get-together.

Ralph is going to Lincoln East in the fall!  The last three years have been a bit unimaginable,  The last quarter of his first year in middle school was spent in remote learning due to the pandemic.  7th grade was spent in person at school but fairly restricted ~ students were not assigned lockers, backpacks were carried around all day, and masks were required all year.  Masks became optional the last semester of 8th grade.   There were challenges navigating through each phase.

Ralph has definitely grown in height but also maturity and independence.  Today he received a President's Award for Educational Excellence in recogntion of Outstanding Academic Excellenace along with a certificate for perfect attendance (2nd semester) and a certificate of promotion.

End of school summary or orchestra stuff??
