Henry: Celebrating 14 years!

Henry is growing taller slowly.  I can look at him and see that he is getting taller.  He currently weighs 83 pounds give or take a few ounces.

He is currently wearing size 14 cargo pants w/ adjustable waists (preferred colors are black, blue and gray) and Large tshirts (10/12) - plain of course.  He is wearing kid size 5 in shoes.

Henry continues to have food other than cereal for breakfast - mostly toast - 1 piece with Nutella and the other piece with cinnamon sugar.  Some mornings he may alter the usual and go with a sausage/egg croissant sandwiches or an egg bowl.

Suppers are usually a peanut butter and jelly sandwich during the week.

Many of Henry's weeknights are taken up by wrestling practice and scouts.  In his free time he likes to play various games on the computer including Hearts of Iron IV, Banner Lord: Mount and Blade, and Adventure Capitalist.  He is also watching the Bosch series and currently reading the book "Killing the SS" as he continues to enjoying reading about history.

Most all of his grades are good; his favorite subject in school is Social Studies.

We celebrated Henry's birthday last Sunday.  We went to grandma and grandpa's for lunch, cake, and gift opening.

Zoo Lights 2023

Grandma, Ralph, Henry, and I went to Zoo Lights this year.  The date was selected for us (having been invited to a preview night) which made it easy to pick when we were going.

The cathedral lights were new this year.

As was the smore's station

Ralph: Eagle Scout Project

Ralph's Eagle Scout project was to build picnic tables for Prairie Pines, a nearby nature preserve - it is also the same place he had his first scout campout after crossing over from cub scouts.

Prairie Pines' focus is on conservation and requested the picnic tables be made from recycled plastic lumber.

Through his fundraising efforts, Ralph was able to donate 4 picnic tables to Prairie Pines.  The first picnic table assembled was a prototype in a sense to see how it was to work with recycled plastic lumber and to work out any snags that might be encountered. After the prototype was complete Ralph scheduled a work day with his troop to put together the other 3 picnic tables.
