Henry: Scouting Events!

February was a busy month for Henry and scouting events.

Henry and his fellow Webelo 2s crossed over to BSA scouts on February 11.

Nathan came from another den in 3rd grade, Nolan has been in the same den since they were tigers, Massimo joined scouts in 4th grade, and Howie & Howie joined this year.

After a month delay, hoping we would be able to go back to the church we usually meet at by then but still couldn't, we held Pack 59's Pinewood Derby in the garage of the cubmaster.   The section at the end of the track with the bumper couldn't be installed due to length limitations and replaced by blankets to cushion the cars.

This year Grandpa helped cut out the car and Mike helped finish up the rest with the painting and putting the wheels on.

Three of the 6 scouts in Henry's group participated.  With each den participating during their own time block we had ample room to watch the race and no worry about too many people.

The overall results - Henry's car seemed slow when he was racing his den but they just had really fast cars.  Maybe it helped they were the last group to go?!

Ralph: Round one is complete!

Earlier in February Ralph completed round one of orthodontic treatment.  After nearly 22 months the braces came off (slightly delayed with COVID) and a retainer was introduced.  His bite is better; the retainer will continue to work on a few things while we wait for the last of the primary teeth to come out and the adult teeth to come in.  He will have appointments every 3 months or so just to check in until the next round starts.

Ralph: Rank Advancement

Troop 159 held their most recent Court of Honor on January 28 in an unusual setting but at least in person.  Ralph and Malcolm brought the flags up and the lit the candles while describing the Scout Law.

Ralph received the most recent merit badges earned and his 1st class patch.
He will now be working on his 2nd class rank requirements.
