Ralph: Celebrating 35 months!

What a month, Ralph has had! His biggest accomplishment this past month was self initiated four nights ago. He had been wanting to go to bed with his briefs on rather than a night diaper for a few weeks. Last Wednesday, for whatever reason, we gave in. Thankfully, he woke up dry Thursday morning. Of the last four nights, his bed has only been wet one morning so far. Not a bad start!

A few weeks ago Ralph woke us up around 1:30 am. He had turned on the lamp in his room and had taken his night diaper and jammies off. I put his diaper back on and got him back to bed. In the morning he was still dry; that was the beginning of him waking up dry. We had not tried to push him into wearing his briefs overnight fearing that would mean more wake-ups for us in the middle of the night.

Winter has gotten the best of Ralph in the last month also. He got pink eye about three weeks ago; I'm surprised it cleared as it was nearly impossible to actually get the drops into his eyes. Last Sunday, after celebrating Grandpa's birthday we figured out Ralph had been bit by a flu bug. I should have thought something was up when he chose to nap rather then eat lunch and then he hardly touched his cake. He missed three days of school. After the stomach virus left, he spent the last few days just laying around- floor, couch, did not matter. At one point he used one of Henry's clean diapers for a pillow. It was so odd to see him lay around so much.

Ralph continues to enjoy school. Sometimes he wants to go on the weekends. Its fun watching him sing the songs he learns along with the actions . . . "He's got the Whole World in His Hands" and "I'm a Little Teapot" seem to be new ones lately. It's fun having conversations about his friends and what he did at school

We are still impressed with Ralph's memory and cognitive development. Today he and Grandpa were talking and he mentioned the golfing he did at the Trunk or Treat at St. Mark's back in October. Sometimes its easy to forget you are talking to someone who is not quite three during some conversations. I wish I could remember some of our conversations better but the way he processes information is incredible. I look forward to watching him grow.
